Sometimes you make unexpected connections. Volunteering with the Newark Conservancy, I learned of its ongoing need for barrels to collect rain. I happened to mention this to TBA member Rich Kesselhaut, who responded, “I have more barrels than I know what to do with!” Turns out preservatives his company, International Coconut, uses come in these barrels, which quickly stack up. Robin Dougherty, the Conservancy’s executive director, was delighted to put them to good use. Here we see Richard bidding farewell to the first “shipment,” off to Newark in a Conservancy truck. A lovely mitzvah doubled: the barrels are recycled, the Conservancy saves money.
