About Jhon Velasco
by Yogi Jhon

My extensive 25 year career in public health has molded me into an impactful ideal yogi. I have exceptional experience in developing, implementing and promoting health projects focusing on public health and social justice for a variety of diverse communities.
A consistent theme in my career has been the creating, developing and implementing visions and practices embodies in new public health projects. However it was after practicing yoga for 20 years that then I decided to go further and become a certified yoga instructor. Since my certification ten years ago, I have not only worked at reputable fitness centers and studios in NJ, I have also implemented yoga and meditation classes for other communities. Each year I volunteer at orphanages in Nicaragua, Colombia and Cuba. At these facilities I spend 1 -2 weeks working with the youth and health care providers on the physical, spiritual and philosophical components of yoga. Whether teaching yoga in NJ or overseas I cater each class as it relates to the exact needs of yogis.

My yoga classes are dynamic, spirited and with an empowering style that uses calculated vinyasa series of postures to create an experience for all senses, physical, emotional and spiritual. With the use of specifically designed music and dharma talks, yogis always feel challenged and energized as their endurance, flexibility and mind reach new levels after every class.I have a very healthy and proud history of working with a wide range of cultures and customs.

Each of my professional positions has granted me the unique opportunity to work, collaborate and more importantly learn about and from other cultures and customs. My ability to communicate with a variety of cultures, and immediately/effectively build a working relationship with folks different than myself allows me to work with a wide range of communities. However it is the essence of my compassion, respect for others and energy that enables me to connect with a variety of people.
