Community Mission 2018 to Israel

sponsored by The Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest, NJ, October 14-22, 2018

Dear Friends:

On behalf of myself and Bunny Schwartz, our TBA chair, I’m excited to urge you to join us in Israel next fall!

Here in Greater MetroWest we are part of a vibrant, collaborative Jewish community, with a Federation that cares deeply about synagogues and synagogue life.  Although 5778 is barely underway, we are already planning for 5779: Next year, for the first time in nearly 20 years, in celebration of Israel’s 70th birthday, the Jewish Federation will bring together hundreds of Jewish community members from synagogues and agencies across Greater MetroWest for a mega mission to Israel. The dates are October 14-22, 2018.

In a word, the mission is for everyone:  those involved with agencies and synagogues as well as those who have not yet found their place. Those who have visited often and those who have yet to set foot there.  It’s an opportunity to strengthen your personal relationship to Israel and for us, as a synagogue community to connect with each other and the greater community, and to see the extraordinary ways the Jewish Federation connects the people of Greater MetroWest with the people of Israel.

A mission is more than just travel.  It’s travel with a purpose. We will see Israel from multiple perspectives, through the eyes of people from all walks of Israeli life, meet leaders from the realms of politics, culture, business, technology and the military, and hear from recent immigrants about how they are building new lives in Israel.

In Jerusalem, Israel’s holiest city, and Tel Aviv, its most modern and energetic city, we’ll experience many different facets of Israel’s history, culture, and cuisine.  We’ll spend a spiritual Shabbat together in Jerusalem. Imagine spending Shabbat in the most sacred place in the world along with members of our own Jewish community. We’ll will watch the sun set over Jerusalem from a special lookout point over the Old City walls, and we’ll take part in a moving Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony at the Western Wall.   We will visit our partner community, our extended family, the residents of Ofakim and Merchavim in the northern Negev. We will also have a chance to visit projects that the Greater MetroWest community has been involved in and witness the impact that we, specifically, have had.

Simply put, every day will be packed with adventure.

All the information you could want is in the attached documents. And especially note that there are a limited number of subsidized land packages for only $1,999 each!  They are going fast so be in touch at once!  Bunny (bunnysmail@aol.com) will be happy to answer any questions, and for registration details, and lots of other great stuff, go here!

Experience Israel, experience Israel with your friends, experience Israel meaningfully on this most historic occasion.

B’shalom,

Rabbi Kulwin
